About Garage Tec
Who we are, where we work and what we are licensed to do.
What services does Garage Tec provide?
Everything on a residential or commercial garage door and on an automatic gate: emergency repair, broken springs, cables and rollers, openers and smart openers, off-track doors, panel and section replacement, full door installation, and swing and slide gate operators, access control, gate fabrication and new gate installation. If it opens and closes on a track or a hinge, we service it.
Which areas do you serve?
Dallas–Fort Worth, Greater Austin, Greater San Antonio and Greater Houston, from 21 local offices. Technicians are based in the metro they serve, so same-day appointments are the norm rather than the exception. See the full list of cities.
Are you licensed, bonded and insured?
Yes. Garage Tec is a fully licensed, bonded and insured company, and every technician is covered by our general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We are BBB Accredited with an A+ rating; the profiles are linked on our Awards page so you can check them yourself.
Who will come to my home?
A uniformed, background-checked Garage Tec employee in a marked truck, never a subcontractor. Every technician is on our Our Team page with a photo, so you know who to expect before the door opens.
How much experience does the team have?
More than 50 years combined, across both garage doors and automatic gates. That is why diagnosis is fast: our technicians have seen the same failures hundreds of times and know where to look first.
Scheduling, pricing and warranty
What a service call looks like from the first phone call to the invoice.
Do you offer same-day service?
Yes, in most cases, seven days a week. Call (888) 217-2664 or book online and we dispatch the nearest truck. Emergency calls, such as a broken spring with the car stuck inside, are prioritized.
How do I get a quote?
Call, book online, or request an estimate. For repairs the technician diagnoses the whole system on site and gives you a written price for parts and labor before any work starts. For new doors and gates we quote the options that fit the house and the budget, side by side.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. The written price you approve is the price you pay. If the technician finds something else during the job, you hear about it and approve it first.
What warranty do you offer?
Two years on parts and labor for repairs, plus the manufacturer's warranty and our workmanship warranty on new doors, openers and gate operators.
Do you work weekends and evenings?
Yes. We are open seven days a week, and after-hours emergency service is available for doors or gates that will not close or are unsafe.
Garage doors
The questions we hear most often on garage door calls.
Which brands do you service?
All of them. LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Linear and Marantec openers; Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Overhead Door, CHI, Windsor and Raynor doors. See our brands page for brand-specific repair details.
My garage door won't open or close. What should I do?
Do not try to force it or disconnect the opener if a spring looks broken; the door is heavy and the cables are under tension. Call us. Most of these calls are a broken spring, a failed opener part or blocked safety sensors, and most are fixed in one visit.
Can you replace one damaged panel instead of the whole door?
Usually, if the model is still made. We match the style, color and insulation of the existing door, and we tell you honestly when a discontinued model or door-wide hail damage makes a new door the better money.
Should I repair or replace my garage door?
You get both numbers in writing. As a rule, a door under 15 years old with a single failed part is worth repairing; a door with rust, multiple failed sections or a discontinued design is usually better replaced with an insulated steel door.
Automatic gates
Driveway, community and commercial gate questions.
What gate problems do you repair?
Operators that stop, hum or run but do not latch; keypads, remotes and telephone entry; loop detectors and photo eyes; sagging gates, broken hinges and posts; and full gate and operator replacement. We diagnose the whole gate system, not just the motor.
Do you install new gates?
Yes. Swing and slide gates in iron, steel and aluminum, fabricated to your opening, with the operator, access control and safety devices installed and tested together.
Can you add automation to my existing gate?
In most cases. The technician checks the gate's weight, hinges and track first, since a gate that drags will wear out any operator, and quotes the operator and access control that fit.
